This month’s Crafty Girl’s Night Out is skipping to the second Wednesday of the month (10th July) because the bees are taking over the Hub!
Jan Doyle from Newbury and District Beekeepers’ Association will be coming to talk about all aspects of honeybees from pollinators, to providers of medicine and honey. Find out the ways in which the beekeeper looks after them and what we in turn can do to help.
There will be a Q&A at the end of the talk and, best of all, honey tasting!
This is an event arranged by Hungerford Summer Festival and tickets are free, although there will be a retiring collection.
We are very pleased to announce another step forward in the development of Hungerford Hub – we have created a permanent exhibition space – The Curve@Hungerford Hub – for local artists and artisans to exhibit and sell their work, and we will be launching the space next month with two events.
The first is a Christmas Exhibition of work by local artists on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th December curated by Shirley Cartey and Andi Mulholland. The Curve will be open from 10am to 6pm on the Friday and 10am to 4.30pm on the Saturday.
The second is a Pop-up Shop showcasing beautiful gifts, hand-made by local artists and crafters. The shop will be open on Friday 14th December, 10am to 7pm and Saturday 15thDecember, 10am to 5.30pm
Everything sold in The Curve will be original and unique, with 10% of sales (20% on cards) going to Hungerford Library & Community Trust, the charity established to support Hungerford Hub. As well as raising funds, the Hub team are committed to engaging with the community and hope that this will be another reason for people to visit the Hub.
If you would like to exhibit in the Christmas Exhibition, contact the organisers via email@example.com for more information. Similarly, if you are a local artist or crafter and would like to hold your own exhibition or pop-up shop in The Curve, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
A big thank you to everyone who came to the Hub launch party on Saturday – it was great to see so many people there. Because of your support we have been able to make a great start on our fundraising, especially with Sponsor a Brick. There are already over 60 bricks going up on the wall in our first week! Remember, you can sponsor a brick at any time – just contact us via email@example.com or ask a member of the library staff for a sponsorship form.
Finally, we have to say a big thank you to our generous sponsors who donated some great prizes for our raffle and tombolas. Take a bow – Hungerford Bookshop; The Hungerford Arms; The Kitchenmonger; Inklings; W H Smith; The Tutti Pole; Christian Alba’s; The Downgate; Boots; Cooper and Cooper; The Emporium; The Oxford Wine Company; Martin and the Magpie; The Naked Grape; Hungerford Leisure Centre.
