This month’s Crafty Girl’s Night Out is skipping to the second Wednesday of the month (10th July) because the bees are taking over the Hub!
Jan Doyle from Newbury and District Beekeepers’ Association will be coming to talk about all aspects of honeybees from pollinators, to providers of medicine and honey. Find out the ways in which the beekeeper looks after them and what we in turn can do to help.
There will be a Q&A at the end of the talk and, best of all, honey tasting!
This is an event arranged by Hungerford Summer Festival and tickets are free, although there will be a retiring collection.
Mixed Media & Collage Workshop with Shirley Cartey and Andi Mulholland
Saturday 6th October 2018, 2-5pm
This promises to be a fun afternoon! Working with Shirley and Andi to create collage paintings using scissors, paper and glue.
How does collage work?
Any way you want! You can create an image with paper just as you can with paint – you can add colour and texture using paper, magazines or photographs. You can add paint, charcoal, oil pastels – whatever you fancy – to bring out the textures or further develop your image.Of course it doesn’t have to be just paper – it could be scraps of fabric or dried leaves – anything as long as it can be stuck to paper.
The purpose of this workshop is to experiment and play with media you might not normally use and be open to possibilities. The results might inspire a painting, or simply encourage further experimentation.
Ticket price includes a selection of materials but bring any special finds you may have, photographs that inspire you, plus your favourite scissors. We’ll provide the tea, coffee and cake!
Join us on 8th September when we officially launch Hungerford Hub. Instead of a ribbon, we will be cutting a cake to have with our tea! There will be live music and prizes to be won, plus we will be launching our Sponsor a Brick campaign, giving everyone an opportunity to be involved in the cause – keeping a roof over our library.
