Exhibitions and workshops in the Hub over the next few months.


Unless stated otherwise, tickets for events must be reserved and paid for in advance. This can be done by bank transfer to account number 33761614, sort code 20-65-20 (please quote ‘event’ next to your name as a reference) or cheque made payable to Hungerford Library & Community Trust. If you are buying a ticket less than one week before the event, we can only accept payment by cash. Use the form at the foot of the page to reserve tickets.


Hub ArtSpace : first Sunday in the month, 2-5pm

Still life drawing in January’s ArtSpace.

Self-lead drawing workshop, working in a relaxed and informal environment with themed subjects – still life of industrial relics, coastal finds, dynamic flora, the clothed body, and more. Bring your own materials, drawing boards, easels although there is always a selection of materials available to dip into. Tea and coffee provided.

Planned programme for 2019:
3rd March – glass objects – reflections
14th April* – life model (clothed)
12th May*, metal objects – bells, wheels, tools, old road lamps
2nd June, objects with a sea theme – nets, shells 
7th July, natural objects – feathers, fossils, egg shells, rocks, nests
August Break
1st September, life model (clothed)
6th October, patterned fabric with metal and glass – riot of pattern!
3rd November, fruit and bowls inspired by Cezanne
1st December, garden theme – clay pots, tools

*these sessions are on the second Sunday due to other events.

A Crafty Girl’s Night Out : first Wednesday of the month, 7-9pm

Cost: £5. Next evening – Wednesday 3rd April. No need to book a place  – just drop in. For further information contact info@hungerfordhub.com or speak to a member of the WBC library team.


 


Needle-felting Workshop : Sunday 24th March, 2-4.30pm

Learn the art of needle-felting with Sarah Chatters – everything you need to make a cute, sleeping bunny. All materials are provided plus a basic tools kit that will be yours to keep.

Tickets £20, including all materials.


Lilac Heart.jpgSpring Art Exhibition: Fri 29, Sat 30, Sun 31 March, 10-4pm:

An open exhibition featuring the work of local artists whether leisure or professional. Anyone wishing to submit work is invited to contact info@hungerfordhub.com to find out more. There will be a small fee for entering work plus 10% commission on any sales towards the Hub.

Author talk and signing: Death in Peking by Graeme Sheppard, hosted by Hungerford Bookshop

Tuesday 9 April, 7.30pm

The brutal murder of the young and beautiful Pamela Werner in the city of Peking one night in January 1937 shocked the world, but the police never found or named the murderer. A best-selling book, Midnight in Peking, declared the murderer to be an American dentist, but English policeman Graeme Sheppard, 30 years with Scotland Yard, decided that conclusion was flawed, spent years investigating all aspects of the case and came up with an entirely different conclusion.

Author Talk and Signing: The Doll Factory by Elizabeth MacNeal, hosted by Hungerford Bookshop

Thursday 9 May, 12pm

Elizabeth MacNeal will be talking to Emma about her New Novel The Doll Factory before taking questions and signing her book. The intoxicating story of a young woman who aspires to be an artist, and the man whose obsession may destroy her world for ever. London.

Author Talk and Signing: Marwood & Lovett Restoration Series by Andrew Taylor, hosted by Hungerford Bookshop

Wednesday 22 May, 7.30pm

Andrew will be talking about his most recent books Marwood and Lovett Restoration series, before taking questions and signing copies. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear this celebrated writer.

French Conversation (coffee and croissant): last Saturday in the month, hosted by Hungerford Twinning Association.
