Exhibitions and workshops in the Hub over the next few months.

Unless stated otherwise, tickets for events must be reserved and paid for in advance. This can be done by bank transfer to account number 33761614, sort code 20-65-20 (please quote ‘event’ next to your name as a reference) or cheque made payable to Hungerford Library & Community Trust. If you are buying a ticket less than one week before the event, we can only accept payment by cash. Use the form at the foot of the page to reserve tickets.

For events organised by the Hub team you can use the form here, letting us know how many tickets you require and for which event. Some events during June and July may be organised by Hungerford Summer Festival, in which case you will be directed to their box office and website.

Spanish Conversation Club

Hub ArtSpace: first Sunday in the month, 2-5pm

Still life drawing in January’s ArtSpace.

Self-lead drawing workshop, working in a relaxed and informal environment with themed subjects – still life of industrial relics, coastal finds, dynamic flora, the clothed body, and more. Bring your own materials, drawing boards, easels although there is always a selection of materials available to dip into. Tea and coffee provided.

Planned programme for 2019:
2nd June, objects with a sea theme – nets, shells 
7th July, natural objects – feathers, fossils, egg shells, rocks, nests
August Break
1st September, life model (clothed)
6th October, patterned fabric with metal and glass – riot of pattern!
3rd November, fruit and bowls inspired by Cezanne
1st December, garden theme – clay pots, tools

*these sessions are on the second Sunday due to other events.

A Crafty Girl’s Night Out : first Wednesday of the month, 7-9pm

Summer Floristry Workshops with Kelly Louise Jennings

Feeling creative this summer? Then why not join us for our summer series of Floristry Workshops with a different project at each workshop (detailed below). Ticket price includes tuition, tools, basic wires, twine, etc plus refreshments. A list of materials will be provided for attendees to bring. Alternatively a floral kit can be provided at an additional cost.

Hungerford Summer Festival Art Exhibition, Fri 28 June-Sun 14 July

An open exhibition and sale of new and original artworks produced by local artists. Open every weekend throughout the Summer Festival (details below). As with all our exhibitions in TheCurve, 10% of sales (20% on cards) will be donated to Hungerford Library & Community Trust.

Honeybees are Amazing!

Wednesday 3 July, 8pm

Discover the fascinating life cycle of a colony of honeybees, the ways in which the beekeeper looks after them and what we can do to help them. Jan Doyle from Newbury and District Beekeepers’ Association will talk about all aspects of honeybees from
pollinators, to providers of medicine and honey.  With a Q&A session at the end of the talk and honey tasting this will be an enlightening and entertaining evening.

This is a free event (with a retiring collection) organised by Hungerford Summer Festival.

Lego, Lego, Lego!

Saturday 6 July, 2-4pm

Join in with the Hungerford Summer Festival Lego Challenge or free-build to
create whatever you like. Using the excellent selection of bricks, including Technic pieces, you can let your creativity run wild. The ideal event to meet new Lego builder friends. For 5yr+ and aimed at all levels.

Story Book Drama with Shirley Cartey

Monday 29 July, 11-12.30pm

An exciting and fun art and drama workshop with story telling. The starting point will be The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson, a tale well-loved by children and adults alike. The story will be recreated through role play and mixed media artwork, retelling the narrative and encouraging imaginations to take us to new and exciting places!

Shirley Cartey is a local artist who participates in Open Studios and is a qualified teacher.

£10 Limited tickets, booking advisable. For ages 5-7years.

Hungerford and District Cancer Support Group

Tuesday 6 August, 7-9pm

For people affected by cancer, past or present, an informal group offering an opportunity to share experiences, to listen, to meet others similarly effected. Free event.
