TheCurve is open!

The perfect space to showcase art and crafts!  TheCurve@HungerfordHub opened this weekend for its first exhibition, selling works by local artists.

Next weekend, TheCurve will be hosting a pop-up shop. If you are looking for something a little different this Christmas, TheCurve could provide the solution with affordable and unique gifts handmade by local crafters, artists and artisans. Everything sold in TheCurve is original so not only will you be supporting a local crafter, you will also be supporting the Hub, the roof over our library.

Opening times: Friday 7th, 10am-7pm and Saturday 8th December,  10am-5.30pm.

10% commission on all sales (20% on cards) going to Hungerford Library & Community Trust, a registered charity.

Just in time for Christmas!

We are very pleased to announce another step forward in the development of Hungerford Hub – we have created a permanent exhibition space – The Curve@Hungerford Hub – for local artists and artisans to exhibit and sell their work, and we will be launching the space next month with two events.

The first is a Christmas Exhibition of work by local artists on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th December curated by Shirley Cartey and Andi Mulholland. The Curve will be open from 10am to 6pm on the Friday and 10am to 4.30pm on the Saturday.

The second is a Pop-up Shop showcasing beautiful gifts, hand-made by local artists and crafters. The shop will be open on Friday 14th December, 10am to 7pm and Saturday 15thDecember, 10am to 5.30pm

Everything sold in The Curve will be original and unique, with 10% of sales (20% on cards) going to Hungerford Library & Community Trust, the charity established to support Hungerford Hub. As well as raising funds, the Hub team are committed to engaging with the community and hope that this will be another reason for people to visit the Hub.

If you would like to exhibit in the Christmas Exhibition, contact the organisers via info@hungerfordhub.com for more information. Similarly, if you are a local artist or crafter and would like to hold your own exhibition or pop-up shop in The Curve, contact info@hungerfordhub.com.

Saturday 6th October 2018, 2-5pm

This promises to be a fun afternoon! Working with Shirley and Andi to create collage paintings using scissors, paper and glue.

How does collage work?

Any way you want! You can create an image with paper just as you can with paint –  you can add colour and texture using paper, magazines or photographs. You can add paint, charcoal, oil pastels – whatever you fancy – to bring out the textures or further develop your image.  Of course it doesn’t have to be just paper – it could be scraps of fabric or dried leaves – anything as long as it can be stuck to paper.

The purpose of this workshop is to experiment and play with media you might not normally use and be open to possibilities. The results might inspire a painting, or simply encourage further experimentation.

Ticket price includes a selection of materials but bring any special finds you may have, photographs that inspire you, plus your favourite scissors. We’ll provide the tea, coffee and cake!

Cost: £35

To book a place contact info@hungerfordhub.com or speak to a member of the library team.

Shirley and Andi are both artists who have exhibited with Open Studios and regularly show their work in local exhibitions. You can see their work at shirleycarteyart.com and andimulholland.com.
